Berth Types & Layout
In Sleeper and 3AC: LB (Lower Berth), MB (Middle Berth), UB (Upper Berth), SL (Side Lower), SU (Side Upper).
In 2AC: only LB and UB across the bay; SL and SU on the side. No middle berth.
In 1AC: 2-berth (Coupe) or 4-berth (Cabin) private compartments with door — no side berths.

What is the cheapest AC class?
3AC Economy (3E) is the cheapest AC option on Indian trains. It has more berths per coach than standard 3AC at a lower fare.
What is the difference between 3A and 3E?
Both are AC 3-tier sleeper. 3A coaches have 64 berths, 3E coaches have 78–83 berths in a denser layout — slightly less personal space at a lower fare.
Are bedding and meals provided?
Bedding (sheets, blanket, pillow) is provided in 1A, 2A, 3A, 3E. Sleeper class doesn't include bedding. Meals are included on Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat — others charge separately.
