Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest AC class?

3AC Economy (3E) is the cheapest AC option on Indian trains. It has more berths per coach than standard 3AC at a lower fare.

What is the difference between 3A and 3E?

Both are AC 3-tier sleeper. 3A coaches have 64 berths, 3E coaches have 78–83 berths in a denser layout — slightly less personal space at a lower fare.

Are bedding and meals provided?

Bedding (sheets, blanket, pillow) is provided in 1A, 2A, 3A, 3E. Sleeper class doesn't include bedding. Meals are included on Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat — others charge separately.

How do I know which coach my berth is in?

Your e-ticket shows the coach (e.g. S5) and berth number. Check coach position via Live Train Status before boarding.
